My name is Trixie and boy do I have a story. I am approximately 8 years old and found myself at the shelter. Being my age I was super scared, but being partially blind was a lot scarier. The noises, the smell, the barking, the sense of fear, is way too overwhelming for a lady like me. Many people said I was not adoptable, but they didn’t see past my pitiful look at the shelter. If a picture could speak a thousand words, my shelter picture did. You can see my pictures below.
Thankfully a group of volunteers and net-workers decided to all join in helping me. It took a village since I was all the way up in South Carolina and I needed to go to Florida. But they made it work and I was safe from the scary shelter.
They later took me to the vet and I am almost blind but I can see shadows. I have one ear up and one ear down which is the cutest thing and everyone compliments me on it. I also have a degenerative disease that makes my paws sometimes curl. There is not much they can do and I have learned to live a happy life despite that. Currently the treatment is to be on joint supplements, and sometimes anti-inflammatory and pain medication if needed. That is relatively a standard treatment for a lady my age.
Now to the good stuff. I love all humans, even little ones! I am super sweet, very mellow, I love to talk, give kisses, and hugs. I am also very petite which makes me a dream to walk. I also get along with other doggies and even cats! I really am a perfect companion.
I need a patient family to help me with my house breaking because I will need to learn a new routine. I am crate trained, so that’s a big plus. I am also spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.
Will you give me forever home?
